Sex: Reinvigorating our Lives and our Planet
In many peoples'
lives sex has taken a back seat. Our culture has told us to put it lower
and lower on our list of priorities. Even when we do focus on sexuality
it is often only through the profit-driven porn industry that we find
inspiration. But if we look at nature, sex is everywhere. It is a big
part of every animals life. Can an animal have it removed from thier life
and still function fully? We feel somewhat sad for all those spayed or
neutered pets, why do it to ourselves psychologically? Can a human, with
it's complex social and psychological needs thrive in a culture where
sexy is simply the trendy pants that you are wearing?
The environmental
movement could benefit greatly if we bring healthy sex back into our lives.
Environmentalist are no longer typified by khakis and green shirts, they
are sexual people living in cities and forests, seeking fuller lives and
hoping to give more prowess to thier environmental passion. Getting "raunchy",
particularly in the wild, can bring us more energy, renewed zest for life,
and ground us in our environment. Embracing our naturalness is key to
learning to live more in tune with the earth.
Many environmentalist
are already starting to specifically seek out other green singles, calling
themselves "ecosexuals". The new sexy is someone who lives more
simply, seeks out quality eco-friendly products, and bikes or commutes
to work. We have started being more selective about how we wish to operate
in the world.
Environmentalist
are often also more interested in health and well being and sex also satisfies
this. It is a great workout for strenthening every muscle and nerve in
the body. One can also explore Tantric and Taoist practices to learn how
to stimulate pressure points, open our energy centers, and release tensions
from our bodies. The new environmentalist can be a super sexy powerhouse
for change.
Our aesthetics
can also reflect our new sexy identity. Sex is something everyone is drawn
to, an obvious force that has motivated consumers to buy all sorts of
stuff. We can take back our sexuality from advertisers, make it healthy,
and use it to encourage others into a beautiful ecosensual relationship
with nature.
We can give praise
to nature through our lovemaking in the wild. Creating sacred acts in
nature, enables us to bring her heart and passion home with us, to better
listen, understand, and protect her. Learning to be at home in nature
lessens our ties to an artificially sweetened existence. Becoming comfortable
in it means that our means of living are ours.
